We are dedicated to making a positive impact by supporting two incredible organizations: Safe Harbor in Tri-Cities, Washington, and Sweet Potato Closet in Hermiston, Oregon. Our goal is to collect donations to assist these organizations in their mission to provide shelter, support, and resources to those in need. Since 1984, Windermere agents have dedicated an annual day of work to those in need.
Since its establishment in 1998, Safe Harbor Support Center has been a pillar of support for the Tri-Cities community, positively impacting the lives of numerous children and families. Originally a crisis nursery, the organization has evolved to address the pressing needs of the community, focusing on trauma intervention and preventing child abuse and neglect. Their commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and teenagers when no other alternatives are available is unwavering. Safe Harbor Support Center goes beyond crisis response by offering outreach, support, and training to help families establish safe and stable environments. Their dedication has garnered recognition, including the prestigious State Social Work Agency of the Year award from the Washington chapter of the National Association of Social Workers in 2004. Through their tireless efforts, Safe Harbor Support Center has positively impacted the lives of over 2,000 families and continues to be a beacon of hope for those in need.
About Safe Harbor Monetary DonationSweet Potato's Closet is a non-profit organization that emerged in June 2020 out of a personal experience when a teenager joined a family with minimal personal belongings. Faced with the challenge of providing necessary items amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the family spent a significant amount of money and realized it was not sustainable. Determined to find a solution, they decided to keep clothing on hand and posted about their initiative on Facebook. The response was overwhelming, with their living room quickly filling up and the community even helping to cover the cost of a storage unit. As the organization grew, they expanded to larger units, accommodating more clothing, shoes, diapers, wipes, and formula. Within months, the demand increased, and they rented an additional unit to store baby gear. Eventually, in February 2021, Sweet Potato's Closet received the generous opportunity to utilize two buildings in Hermiston, Oregon, allowing them to accept furniture and provide beds for foster families. Their impact has grown significantly, serving 150 people in March 2021 alone. The organization's journey reflects their unwavering commitment to helping those in need and creating a positive impact within their community.
